Spray OVER Future?
Posted by nsclcctl on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 10:45 AM
I may have made a mistake. I just finished my 1:48 Hasegawa Stuka. I have it painted in the splinter camo. I want to overspray flat white for the eastern front look.

Question 1- I already put 2 coats of future on, is it too late?
Question 2- do the markings and decals go over the white overspray?
Question 3- If anyone has done the white camo, how have u done it, I assume it is very light and the splinter shows through. I was going to use a spray can, should I airbrush?

I can answer the first two

#1- No it's not too late. The future is needed to help keep the decals from silvering. This leads right into question 2.

#2- The white over spray should be done last. The normal steps are: Paint, Gloss (future), Decal, Flat, Weather.

My guess for the white is to put a few extra coats of flat over the decals so there is a bit of a barrier between the overcoat and the decals/paint then after spraying the white you can do some light sanding to remove some of the white to give it a worn appearance.
