                        I recently finished the Hase Razorback and she went together nicely with no major fit problems.

                        As to the Hasegawa or Tamiya Jugs, price might be the deciding factor. The Tamiya kit is more expensive but it offers some options not given on the Hasegawa kit, like dropped flaps, and is a bit more accurate in some areas. But, on the whole, they're both excellent kits.

                        As to brass and resin, all kits could benefit from extra detail but if you were to go for the Tamiya Jug then there really isn't much need for extras, unless you wanna open the gun bays as you mentioned. Just try building a few kits SOB (Straight-Outta-da-Box) and see if that satisfies...

                        I have built the Hasegawa bubbletop---Beautiful kit would recommend it. I don't think you could go wrong with eaither kit. Good Luck JOHN

                        Welcome back Aklabunde!

                        In my humble opinion, I would go for the Tamiya. At the moment it is on my workbench (kitchen table that is) and I love it. It is very well done. Also, I have the Eduard PE set and the separate placards they sell for it, and they work really well too. And, there is a company called "Scale Quest" that makes a resin set that is really high quality too.

                        I'm not sure if you want to dive in that deeply, but I would recommend that you give it a try. If worse comes to worse, you don't have to use all of the parts, even some is a reason for feeling an accomplishment.

                        Hello folks. I am thinking about getting back into building aircraft models. It has been a few years since I built a plastic model, I have built a couple of balsa and paper ones though.

                        I have decided I want to build a 1/48 scale P-47, probably a razorback version. I am trying to decide between a Tamiya and Hasegawa but would be consider others. Any comments on either one? I also thought I'd try to add either (or both) PE and/or resin details if necessary. The model would probably be set in a static ground mound (canopy open, gear down, maybe even gun bays if I am feeling ambitious). Any comments? Should I try something else first before adding PE and resin?
