Highlighting areas on an aircraft?
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, February 5, 2004 7:16 AM
I have heard that some people highlight certain areas on an aircraft. But I am not too sure about doing it. Thus should I highlight certain areas on the aiorcraft or don't?Dead [xx(]

Hi Carnage,

It depends on what you are trying to achieve. Many folks highlight the panel lines of a plane by using a wash of some sort. Others do that and make certain panels a slightly different color than the base paint job.

Take a look at some completed modes and see how you'd like your model to look. But don't feel that you have to do anything at all. I'm working on a kit that I've decided I won't weather. I want it to look new and shiny.

Regards,

What a cool ID! Like lufbery said, it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Reference material would be your best help.

But, the main reason to "highlight" any area of a plane is just to show some difference in the panels, due to weathering or fading of the paint. Believe me, it can be overdone. Maybe start small, possibly by outlining the panel lines with black paint before you paint the overall color, and see how you like that.

good luck!
