1/48 (Yes 1/48) B-1A Backdate

Had to backdate: nose, engine inlets, side fuselage, wing backdate, rear cones. It took probably 45 hours to finish. i used 3 bottles of Tamiya white primer. I used to live at Edwards AFB and would see this plane flying all the time. My father ran the weapons shop for YF-16.

Pretty ambitious project... Didn't someone make a 1/48 Bone-A kit once upon a time?

Love it! Never saw the "A" fly, but remember seeing it at the AF museum in Ohio. I love the white paint, makes it look like a TU160.

Cool! How big is that sucker? Looks huge compared to the car in the background of the daylight shot!

Don't remember the exact dimensions, but I have that kit in my stash and the thing is enormous. The tires provided with the kit are contained in a baggie. They are rubber/vinyl. Can't wait to build it. I just finished the 1/72 B-1B and hung it in my son's room. Even at 1/72 it's still a larger kit. If you plan to build it, hope you have room or enough ceiling free of an overhead fan!

Yes it was ambitious, if there is an "A" model conversion I have never heard of it. Thank you for your response.

Thank you for the kind words, it was hard to miss in the desert sky! I always liked the white scheme too.

Yes, you are right. It is huge! The model is 30 something inches long, I think. I bought a new larger display case and it takes up basically the whole shelf. Thank you for the kind words.
