                        Hi All:
                        I have an A340 that i've just applied primer to. I noticed that there are areas at various points along panel lines, where the line dissapears.
                        I don't know how to rescribe the panels to make them look better. There aren't any decent hobby shops in the area that sell the tool to do this with.
                        Any thing that I can use lying around the house? I've tried doing this before, but some of the plastic gets into where i scribed and it either is too wide, or too deep. Thanks.

                        See if you can find a large sewing needle. You can scribe with it but you'll find that if you put it in a wooden dowel (or even better a pin vise) you have much more control over it.
                        Just drill a hole the size of the pin and secure it with super glue (in the dowel not the pin vise)

                        As far as a strait edge, you can use some sheet styrene, if it's thick enough. It's flexible, so you can follow the contours of the subject too.

                        Also, if the line is totally gone, or if you have a curve area you need to start from scratch, you can use the back edge of a #11 blade to get it started. And then switch to a needle or scribing tool if you like that better. This helps especially in small radii or curves.

                        If I may add a technique I learned from a friend: Shave off the plastic that was dislocated to either side of the rescribed panel line using an X-acto knife. Sand the surface smooth, give the panel line a quick pass with the needle, and scrub with detergent and a worn out scotchbrite dish scrub. The sanding will even out the surface, and the scrub will remove all plastic residue after the sanding.
