An AVG Flying Tiger
Posted by rjkplasticmod on Thursday, February 5, 2004 6:01 PM
With Trumpeter's pending release of a 1/48 Curtiss P-40-B, thought I better build some of the Hobbycraft kits on my storage shelf before they become totally obsolete. This is a 1/48 Hobbycraft P-40-B built OOB, except I used a True Details resin cockpit interior and aftermarket decals. These are the first Pics I've been able to post on the Forum, so be gentle.

I like it !
Nice clean build. Great paint job. Nice panel lines. Good work on the wing roots. (I just wish the pics were larger !)

Looking forward to seeing you post more !

Pix, Thanks, Iv'e admired your work posted here and on Hyperscale. I don't have a digital camera (yet) so these were scanned from 4x6 prints off 35mm negs. I am real new to imaging on the net and haven't quite figured out the size thing. I may be limited because of the scan but I am still fooling around with it.

Nice Tiger, AJACKETSFAN. Do you plan on building the Trumpeter kit?

That looks sweet. Ive got one of the Monogram P-40Bs made up with the exact same decals as you have as well as the exact same RAF color scheme. They truly are beautiful aircraft! Great Job!!!

Thanks all for the kind words.

AJACKETSFAN: The decals are from AeroMaster, their AVG special #SP 48-07. Comes with a booklet containing a concise history of the Flying Tigers, detailed painting guides, and enough decals for several birds. I think it's OOP, but if you can find one it"s very worthwhile.
