airfix Zero 1/72 new tooling finished
Posted by bsyamato on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 1:26 PM

Finished pictures of second entry for Japanese GB

brush painted with humbrol and model master enamels.

Modded only the scratchbuilded seat (this time because lost the original piece Whistling ), main wells and cut the canopy for open option (the only bad thing of the kit)

Hope you like it Toast

Canopy looks like a good fit, maybe airfix has solved an issue?

Fantastic job on the kit. Any quirks we should be aware of? (other than the closed canopy and easily lost seat)

Thanx guys

Scorpion the kit is new tooling (less than a year from the first print i believe) and fit almost perfect in all pieces; also folding wings option, and gear doors with the two options ,open and closed in single pieces. So really he don't seems an airfix!

The only fitting problems i found was related to the mods i did on the gear wells, i completely remover original pieces, and decals for the ip Tongue Tied

heres dry-fit and sprues shots

and some wip picures, the cockpit is OOB out of the seat , the control stick (lost too .. i forget Whistling )

and drilled some hole in the back bulkhead. Added wires to the engine

thanx for viewing

REALLY nice job, bsyamato! I've had my eye on this kit for a few months now, so thanks for the detailed look. I expect that this and Cyberhobby's new Val will invade my stash in the next month or two.

Nice score- 5 japanese planes! Yeah, I was looking at the old Fujimi Val when the new Dragon/Cyberhobby Val showed up. Not sure when I'll be able to start building it, but I sure want to have it on hand!

I really like the weathering you did on this plane, and I still keep looking close at this plane thinking how in the helI did you do it. I get too tired to be able to hand paint the whole aircraft, my hat is off to you buddy.

Thumb's up on your hand-painted Zero in my favorite airplane scale. Very nicely done. I have got to get some pics up of my 1/72 Rufe to keep it company.
