                        Can anyone help me ID this guys unit or anything you might know from his markings? I'm gonna try and do a diorama of another photo I have of my grandfather and two of his crew sitting on this guy's wing. Thanks for any info you may have.

                        Hmmmm, the unit code looks to be 'S1'. My first guess would be I.StG 3.

                        A few questions for you that may help... When was this photo taken, approximately? (Year?) Was your grandfather in North Africa or Italy? Also, any chance of a larger and higher-res scan?

                        Photo was taken in N Africa in mid 43. grandpa was there to fly the low level raid on Ploesti in Aug 43. I'll have to play with the scanner a bit to learn how to try and sharpen the image. I am very new to the image scanning side of computers.
