Nice work.  When I built one I found I spent about as much time masking and painting canopy and belly frames as I did on the rest of the model.

Nice work so far Roman! I`ve already built one of these kits and I`m about to build another for a GB I`ve entered. The kit is a typical Tamiys product...nice fit and detail. I agree with the member that said he spent alot of time on masking the canopy and ventral window...tons of little window frames.....Geeked...probably the toughest part of the entire kit. I`ll have to re-visit your tutorial on seatbelt construction, really like the way they look...Yes

Vajled

I have made little tutorial on one previous build about seat belts and bushles

Good tute!  Nice to see another "Gizmologist-Imagineer" in action! Not many of us left, lol..

I do something similar, although I made a jigs jig for bending the wire so I can turn out the same hardware repeatedly... PhotoBucket is a drag on this PC today, takes me 15 minutes to get a picture posted sometimes, and it looks like on of those days...The ads on PB kill my speed too...  Slower than dial-up..

Anyway, I made the buckle- jig (as well as the others) using straight pins on a popsicle-stick.. I wind the wire around them, pulling them tight, then lift them off and trim the "pull-wire" end... Then I flatten the wire buckles in a pliers or vise.

I built that same kit about 20 years ago.. Wish I had another two or three..  Looking forward to seeing this one completed!

@John - jeaton - huh, all evening working with canopy... hehehhe and thx :)

@Len - thx mate, after finished masking canopy start to search my eyebowls who fell on the floor :)), glad you like my tut for seatbelts

@Reasoned - thx mate, really nice words for my builds :)

@Hans - LOOL I dont know what in my quote means bushles, probably I misstype buckles :))

Yes, I love to do something little just to bring model into life... I'm not great fun of some cutting, sawing, totaly rebuilding... Like OOB models, mybe aftermarket seat and some little of PE set... but most enjoyed to do something by myself like that seat belts... some home made throttle leveler, etc... 100 times better than aftermarket when you made something out :)

And about my tonight work...

masking of canopies is finished... al evening doing with canopy... from maskin till glueing...

I had little mishap also...  canopy who is for British, Netherlands version is in garbage... I have manage to turn over little bottle where I have nitro for AB cleaning... and of course canopy got own portion of nitro...

Luckely in box was second canopy, but this one is for USAF version with hole in windsheald... for these telescopic aiming device.

I try to fix that hole, hopefully I have manage to do something, but little is visible edge of the hole under new windshield panel what I made for cover the hole ( trasparent plastic folie).

Another problem is that that I cut off all antenas, another type of pilot seat is inside cockpit and cannot do USAF version...

Please guys... take some stick and with all my clearence do his to me:

Well, I will finished kit... with or without visible hole under new panel of windsheald...

Masking and all preparation for painting is over...

Cheers

The Buffalo is one of the kits I enjoyed building mainly because of its stubby shape. It is an easy build. Show us your finished aircraft.

Excellent job Roman! I built the same version...it`s hanging from the ceiling. What happened to the ventral window? I know, very small windows and a lot of them.  I`m building a "Midway" Buffalo right now and just masked my ventral window...had to do it with "magic" tape...for some reason the frames would not show through Tamiya tape, also the same on the canopy...?...I used Tamiya tape on the main canopy but had to guess where the frames were in a few spots. I wish someone would make a super-fine tipped paint pen...would come in handy for detail work as well as canopies.

Again...very nice work!

Roman - just a beautiful job on this old bird. I did this same one, but it got destroyed by a spousal torrent. There is one thing you might want to add to it from the research I did on this particular bird. The pilot hand hold cover just aft of the "F"  marking is bare metal. It's oval shaped and might have been a replacement for the original, which could have been damaged in transit. It's seen in all of the photo's of this bird.

Very nice Roman!  And fast work too.

Mike T, I gotta ask what exactly is a 'spousal torrent'?  Smile

Jeff - a spousal torrent  is when your wife imitates a tornado with the equivalent amount of selected destruction.

Yikes Mike, I was thinking it was something like that.  I would think my wife would soon be my ex if she did something like that.  I had a girlfriend chunk a beer bottle at my head once, and knew it was pretty much done between us, but no one ever got to the point of destroying models.

Jeff, let's leave it at that as a discussion on spousal torrents would hijack this thread and distract from the nice work done.

Aren't the markings on that Buffalo the ones on Greg Board's Buffalo, when he crashed on take-off and wound up nearly smashed flat on a tree?
