P-47 Bubbletop

Buy lots of them and build them! Seriously, it's a fine kit. Fits well, looks like a P-47 when you're done.

At the moment, I'm working on a Razorback, but since most of it is shared with the bubbletop, I can highly recommend it. Fit is great, and it's just beautiful in the box, besides building great.

I just started on my Tamiya Bubbletop last night (8 Feb 2004), and I am IMPRESSED with the fit!! I was just kinda test-fitting everything, and it all stayed together with no tape or glue - just friction. And you could hardly see any seams! I am IMPRESSED!! I've never had a kit fit this well before. I can't wait to start on my Tamiya Razorback (yep, I bought 'em both, along with the Hasegawa Razorback). The level of detail is just tremendous. I can whole-heartedly recommend this kit to anyone!! Even a beginner to modeling.

Can anyone tell me the difference between these two items? What is "ZOOM"? Thanks. magic8796

I've built about 12 of the Tamiya P-47's bubbletops and razorbacks . The 1/48 scale your thinking of doing is an excellent choice to get started back out on . However I'd make one suggestion , I notice that your looking at detail kits for your model as well , if your not fimilar with them they can be a real nightmare , the PE is the worst when you first start using it , I ruined 2 detail sets for a Corsair before I became more at ease with it 2 doesn't seem like much , but at anywhere from $9.99 to $24.95 a pop it adds up . I'd get a reference guide and a PE folding tool , some will say it's not worth it , but beilive me it is . And most of all lots and lots of patience . Good luck and post some pics of your progress.

I agree with the other guys, it is one of the best kits you could hope for. Walt is right about the PE sets, they can be a real hassle for your first model back after a layoff. I have used the Razorback version of the Eduard set that you're looking at and it really only adds marginal detail to the finished plane, the kit really is that good! Also I think Squadron has posted an incorrect image with thier ZOOM set. The ZOOM sets (EU4240), consist of just the smaller fret of PE at the top of the image, the one with the belts and instrument panel etc. and this is all you will need to spice up your T-Bolt, go with that one. Just my opinion mate.
