converting a b-26 maurader
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 9, 2004 6:03 PM
hi. i'm in the research phase (read: don't have a kit yet) of a project to build a martin b-26 as used by the u.s. navy for aerial mapping purposes in the pacific toward the end of wwii.

this is very new ground for me, as i have only built armor so far. any tips concerning good reference material, types of modifications i'll be looking at making, etc., would be much appreciated.

Hey Z0mbie;
Have you tried to get the Squadrons B-26 Maurader book?, they have some very interesting pix of the 26's and If I do remember correctly they even have a colored drawing of the US Navy's version, it's painted in Engine Grey, Yellow & Red and I know there a other books out there on the subject of the B-26's

You can also find some interesting color photos of the Navy's version in the book "Carrier Planes". Barnes and Noble carried it for a while in their discount section for about $15 as I recall. I still see a few copies there from time to time.

The USN version was designated the JM-1. I believe this covered all Navy versions including the All-yellow target towing birds. Try a search with that term. Good luck.
