P-38 Cockpit detail sets
Posted by Bob H. on Sunday, November 18, 2012 8:03 PM

I am putting together a Christmas wish list. I two Hasegawa kits in 1/48 scale : the P-38 J and the P-38 L. I already have the True Details " J " Cockpit detail set # 49008. It is also described as the ex - KMC 48-6012. Will this set also work for the P-38 L? I can't seem to find a Cockpit detail set for the " L ". I do have the Eduard photoetch for the " J " and I saw that it is available for the " L " ... so that's going on my wish list. Thanks for any input that ya'll can offer.                         Bob H.

Thanks for the photos. I'll put on my Optivisor and study them carefully to see how close the True Details " J " resin set comes to the " L " Cockpit. In the meantime if anyone else has used the " J " Detail set for the " L " model I would like to hear from you. Thanks....         Bob

man, I used a detail set on a 1/48 P38 last year and.... with that instrument panel "overhang" in place, it's hard to see much of it, even with the canopy open.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72 Wildcat; Airfix 1/72 Vampire T11; Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister

Thanks Tom and Vance,. Now I'm comfortable with the idea of getting another True Details  #49008 P-38 J Cockpit detail set for use in the P-38 L. Later,                          Bob H.
