Warmup build back into the hobby- Heller 1/72 Fiesler Storch
Posted by PaperPanzer on Thursday, November 22, 2012 12:13 AM

Hello guys! I've decided to do a warm- up project to get back into the hobby. The simplest kit I could find in my stash that I didn't mind starting on is explained in the title. If I remember correctly, I bought it for 5$. Hopefully I can do something with this "bargain buy" Wink

First the box art ( I hate end- opening boxes!!!)Angry-

Sprue trees... (thats a lot of clear parts!)-

This is my first build with a "exploded diagram"-

Office detail is nonexistent, a bit of panel scribing and other details should help.-

Painted the details.-

Assembled the office.(heller's design isn't very well thought out. Oh well, it was only 5 bucks.)-

Mated the two fuselage halves together, and clamped.-

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and we have a trip planned on friday up to ventura (hopefully the hobbyshop as well!) So I am pessimistic about any major work being done in that time. Cheers!Big Smile

Cool sweet little build! Can't go wrong with this one. Welcome back to the hobby, and you picked a great subject.

You're building a Storch as a warm-up?!?!?! Nice additions to the little Heller kit, looking forward to watching this one.

Sorry for the long pause, schoolwork in the way... and been playing world of tanks constantlyWink.

Some progress today-

filled in the gaps here, everywhere else the seams were good.-

While that dried i glued and clamped the wings, rather difficult without attachment points.-

The cowling in the front has a large open vent, but no detail to where it goes. I scribed in some lines to make up for the bare surface.-

Then i used the clamp to hold the tail and struts at 90 degree angles whilst the cement dried.-

Then the parts to the tail's underside.-

I've stopped for now so i can go back to world of tanks... hopefully more progress will be made soon.

More on the way!

Ok, sorry for the pause again, a smashed hand and internet connection problems don't help... Tongue Tied

Added support brace on roof-

Glued and clamped the wings, difficult without attachment points-

Then all the details on the bottom, minus the supports and pitot tube-

Most of the stall has been placing all this canopy glass- Angry

Im starting on all my other projects again... so this is being placed down on the list. If your wondering what that dark spot on my finger is, its where i smashed it, burst the capillaries inside resulting in a nasty blood- blister. I couldn't build or play WoT... but it's only numb now, few more days and it should heal... Sad

More later!
