The B-29 was a "modern" aircraft that actually had crew comfort as a feature. The
pressurized areas were upholstered. Some were upholstered in a quilted material
that was a dark green. Others in an OD colored fabric. I pulled quite a bit of that stuff
out of the B-29 "Miss America '62" at the Travis Air Museum during it's restoration to
static display. Behind the fabric was bare aluminum. On the aluminum, behind the
pilot's seat was written in yellow grease pencil "Good Luck GI's" followed by a woman's
name and phone number.

Interior Green and Zinc Chromate have been around since I was was modeling, early "60's". I used Interior Green on the B-29 I started, and used the Zince Chromate for smaller subassemblies to give some "relief". Testors Model Masters has an Aluminum paint. I stay away from the Chrome Silver except for struts and other items such as hyd pistons, etc. It attracts finger prints like bees to honey.

The old 1977 B-29 kit calls for Dark Green interior in the cockpit, crew quarters, and just about every where except the bomb bay and comm tube. It calls for Silver there. My thoughts are that the availablility of model paint colors was probably not as diverse back in 1977 as they are now. Was Zinc Chromate or Interior Green available in 1977? Aluminum? I don't remember I was too young to build anything other than a snap-tite at that time.

I believe the interior of the bomb bay doors and main gear doors are aluminum and some shots of the interior of the bomb bay looks aluminum also and others zinc chromate with the "communications" tube aluminum. I was looking in the old Detail and Scale of the B-29. The bulkheads were aluminum facing the bomb bay.

You won't be very wrong if you go with zinc chromate green over all inside. Pick out the equipment details with blacks.
