The Chambermaid, B-24J pics wanted
Posted by jridge on Monday, February 16, 2004 4:50 PM
The Chambermaid, B-24J, 42-100227, pictures wanted - my uncle was the bombardier.

Edited: I forgot - The Chambermaid was in the 7th AF, 30th BG, 38th BS

I just received a copy of "Log of the Liberator" by Steven Birdsall. There's a picture on page 290 of The Chambermaid in flight. Problem is, the author doesn't identify where the picture can from. I assume it came out of an archive somewhere?

Any idea how I can get a copy of the photo, and other archive photos of The Chambermaid?

Thanks for the help.

Jim

Jim,
I couldn't find a listing for her on the B-24 Liberator site which is unusual because they have a pretty good collection. You can visit them and maybe do a contact for more info.

Jim,
There's a closeup picture of the Chambermaid on page 150 of
Vintage Aircraft Noseart by Gary M. Valant. It was published by Motorbooks. The
photo's credited to the NASM (National Air and Space Museum, Washington,D.C.).
This is a very closeup picture only showing the artwork and a few mission symbols.

Thanks guys for your help. I have the nose art photo. I also have a couple of the crash pics. I had been to the b24 web site before. I just tried again and got errors. It looks like they are making some changes. I'll try later.

Thanks agin.

Jim.

Thanks for the links Keyworth.

Mike Grant produced a set of 1/48 scale decals of The Chambermaid for me and subsequencely asked if he could use them in his commercial 1/144 scale B-24 release.

I have the nose art and three crash pictures. I would really like to find the in-flight shot.

I just completed the model. I tried posting some pics on RONUSMC's site. But, I couldn't get it to work.

Thanks for you time and effort.
