Thanks Doc.
Melgyver, I'll try to post a pic of my Monogram P-51D later. You're right about the problems. My kit had the markings for Drew Urban's "Detroit Miss". If I'm not mistaken, Urban downed two Me-262s in "Detroit Miss". I will be emailing you to to see your photo soon; I'm having big-time computer problems and both batteries for my digital camera are shot. Yep, when it rains, it pours! lol, Gary.

Gary,

I built the Monogram P-51D #5101and the "chin" cowling needed shimming and a bit of putty work. I think the wing roots need some of the same. It's been a while. I ended up scratchbuilding six rockets and the twelve stubs to make it a Korean War variant. Then Tamiya came out with it and the same decals. I put some "radiators" in the bottom scoop and added brake lines and drilled out the exhausts and that was about it. E-mail me if you want to se a picture of it.

The T-Bolt looks even better from this angle!

didfal, that Testor's kit is #591; it could be built as a razorback or a bubbletop. It is a rather crude and dated kit. I wanted the cowl flaps open and that created a problem in mounting the cowl to the fuselage. I have the Monogram P-47 with PE parts in my model locker-maybe someday I'll get around to that bubbletop! Oh yeah, I also checked that P-51-Monogram #5207 (molded in silver). Both have the long-range tanks. Gary

Brought back memories. That was the first P-47 I built as a kid. You could make it either the "bubble top" or "razorback". Nice job with the kit and picture.

What's the kit #? The only Testor's kit I've seen is the P-47D in the 56th FG colors for Gabereski.Eight Ball [8]

didfal-the tanks came with the kit(Testor). Monogram's 1/48 P-51 has the same tanks.
cassibill-if I put the [img] tag in front, I get the red x. It only works this way for me...go figure? any ideas why this is? Gary

Axis armor builders would shudder at the sight of that upon them.
