I agree, its a shame sometimes to dirty 'em up. It looks great, did you say you built that in two days? I can't get parts off the sprue in two weeks...

I got some money for coaching at a lacrosse camp last week so I went out and told myself I buy and airplane that caught my interest that was under $20. So I found this and was hoping I could finish it up in the week and it turned out to be two days. A lot of that has to do with the simplicity of this kit. Other contributions is that I knew it was going to be a ceiling model so I didn't want to waste time putting in details I knew wouldnt be seen.

I think it looks great!  2 days!  You the man!  I like the head turned and the way you hung it.  Putting someone on his six will make the scene complete.  Be sure to post a pic of that!

Yeah, nice work there! I think it's too easy to get overly caught up in superdetailing, heavy weathering, etc - a nice simple clean build like this looks great!

Looks good, nice clean looking finish.  That must be the old Tamiya A6M3 with not so many parts.  I'm a Zero fan, I don't want to seem un-American, but you could put a P-400 in front of the Zero, then a F4F on it's tail.  After all, we've all heard that a P-400 is a P-40 with a Zero on its tail...

Great looking build! I just finished up a book called "The Last Zero Pilot". The author is an American who speaks fluent Japanese. He went to Japan and interviewed a number of surviving Japanese pilots. One the pilots talked about getting 3 model and absolutely hating it. Apparently it was a very unforgiving airframe with the clipped wings. He was happy to go back to the 2's.

Thanks a lot guys. LOL at the F-14 behind it...that'd be too funny. Unfortunately I don't think there's enough room, the Zero is pretty close to the ceiling since I'm so tall, I Don't think a Tomcat would fit.

Darren....that sounds like an interesting book...how did you like it? I think they clipped the wings to make it easier to get down the elevators on a carrier faster but I can't remember if that's correct....didn't the 5's have clipped wings too, or are my mistaken there too?

You are correct about them clipping the wings to make it easier on the elevators. Apparently the engineers discouraged clipping the wings, but they were overruled. The 5 went back to the original wing design. The book is a fascinating look at the Japanese mentality during the war. The pilots interviewed who participated in Pearl Harbor felt the country was dishonored because it was a sneak attack. They were all under the impression that war would be declared before they attacked. They were ashamed that it wasn't the case.

Alright, I had to get out my old A6M5c Tamiya kit and start in.  Took me about 2 hours just sanding on the cowl.  Hmmm...maybe I'm too picky....

ah yes the final countdown. that was a good movie.

Well here is the final product of the dogfight, I thought it'd be appropriate to post it in here rather than just starting a new thread.

Here's the Corsair, completed for the Pacific Carrier Aviation GB...if you wanna see more pics of the corsair they are in there, in addition there are many phenomenal builds going on so it's worth a looksy anyways.
