General aviation models
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, March 16, 2003 5:58 PM
Would like any information on who makes molds or molding for the construction of ag aircraft, cessna 180-185, cessna 206,Piper supercubs, plus, make ski's floats tundera tires etc. as add on's for these kits.
I've been moldeling all my life and have built my share of WW2 fighters, bombers,etc..
I grew up on a farm-ranch in So. Dak.,and used to chase the cropdusters as they flew overhead. I started scratch building them as there were no kits. The detail left alot to the imagination to say the least.Would look at the cost of starting a model co. to make general aviation aircraft. "DETAILED", kits!Any info. would be greatly appreciated! Thank you,

Linn,
You may want to check w/ Minicraft/Academy Minicraft(1/48th). They use to do civil light a/c such as the cessna and the like. Are they still producing them,I'm not sure. They also had civy done in 1/72nd scale but who did them I'm not sure of.
Maybe someone out there can help ya out on the second question or they can help ya out w/ the first one even better. Flaps up,Mike

If you would listen to everybody about the inaccuracies, most of the kits on your shelf would not have been built Too Close For Guns, Switching To Finger

You may want to try the Modelcraft range. They do have some general aviation kits. I'm currently in the final stages of painting their 1/48 Cessna 172 and I have no complaints about it.

A Japanese company did a series of 1/72 civilian aircraft that includes a Beech Bonanza, but the name of the company escapes me at the moment.

The civilian stuff is out there, you just have to look a lot harder for it.

Minicraft does make alot of civil type kits . 1/48 and1/72.They also produce alot
of comercial stuff in 1/144 and larger. A large distributor is a place on the net called www.modelexpo-online.com or by phone (954-925-5651).Good luck,
