Looking for a photos of a particular F-14D. . .

Hi all,

I've got the Revell F-14D with the markings for VF-213. I'm wondering if anyone has, and can post, a photo of the plane on the box. It's the one with the lion's head on the nose. There's a great shot of the box top here:

.
I realize that this was probably one of those temporary schemes that was painted on for special occasions, but it really looks neat. From what I can figure, that nose art was applied prior to the start of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

So, does anyone have a photo of the real thing?

Thanks in advance,

-Drew

Drew I think I have seen decals for that D from Yellowhammer. I could be wrong but check it out. Try MATS site it may or may not have those markings. I have a set of CAM decals for that squadron that I don't like, If you are interested in them let me know. I will not part with the one from VF-103 that is part of that set but I am willing to part with the set of 213.

That goes for anythone else. The number is CAM 48-058. Anyone interested can contact me for a trade or something.

Jim,

I've seen the illustration from the Yellowhammer decals, and it's very helpful. The M.A.T.S site doesn't have a photo of that particular scheme. Neither does Tomcat Alley. In fact, a Google search has turned up nothing except the Revell box art! Sad [:(]

Thanks for the offer on the decals, but I'll have to pass. I've got two Tomcat kits, both 1/72, waiting in the wings, and I've got decals aplenty for both. Smile [:)]

So, does anyone have a photo? I've heard there may be one in a back issue of Combat Airraft magazine.

Regards,

-Drew

Does it indicate how long ago that Tomcat was painted like that? Try contacting VF-213 directly. I doubt it will help but it is always worh the try.

Good Luck.

Geez,

I can't believe I'm striking out with this. I've done an extensive Web search and found nothing.

Bummer.

The Yellowhammer decals indicate that this particular paint schemem was on a VF-213 F-14D in 2001 at NAS Oceana.

Regards,

-Drew
