Does anyone make a kit of The Yokosuka MXY7 Ohka Cherry Blossom suicide rocket bomb plane.

Thanks.

I forget who made the 72nd kit (Heller?), but Hawk made one in 48th which has been released several times by Testors. 'Twas paired up with a V-1. Not bad, really, considering their age. With some work it can be made into a real nice model.

Oh, I think Hasegawa had a 72nd Ohka as well. Dunno if it was their own mold or maybe an old LS? When it comes to little scale, I'm lost sometimes...

Anyhoo, would be nice if someone did a new kit of one of these in 48th.

Hey Tamiya! You did a V-1, how 'bout one of these?

This is a heavily modified 1/48 Hawk/Testors Oka

It is a fun little build and the buzz bomb is kinda neat also. They pop up on ebay quite often.

It's a neat little plane, How is it heavily modified ?. I' ve looked on EBAY, and at the moment there are only 1/72 scale kits .Most are Hasegawa BETTY's with OHKA 's . I would like a 1/48 scale.

Problem is you are mis-spelling it. There are two 1/48 kits on ebay right now ....

Thanks Swanny,
The 1st kit is a USA only, the 2nd I will put a bid on.

I liked your site, lots of information, but, you spell it OKA and OHKA, in the review, which is the right spelling?.

That is a good question, it shows up as both in many different references. For the purposes of Ebay, it is Oka.

Miltiary Modilling did an article on the Oka several years ago and one ofthe scale flying model mags did a plan for a rocket propelled model some time ago.
I cam photo copy the MM article and you can have the plans if you want them.

I have an issue of either "Wings" or "Airpower" that has color pics of the interior of the version that's in the NASM. There were two versions of this craft, along with a two-seat trainer. If you get the kit, I'd be glad to scan the pics for you. Good luck on the bid.

Thanks for the info and offers, I have put in some bids on EBAY, and if I get one I may take up your generous offers.

Trainer for a suicide rocket? I hope I'm not the only one that finds this a bit ironic.

Imagine being kicked out of that program, what would you do next? Go into politics?

This is the MXYZ-K2 training aircraft. These carried a single solid-propellant rocket with 573 lbs. of thrust.
