BV 222 Wiking question...
Posted by ssrc30 on Sunday, May 11, 2014 7:17 AM
Friend of mine just built the Revell 1:72 Wiking, which he says is an absolutely wonderful kit. He's wanting to paint it in its winter scheme but is unsure what the actual colors are, aside from white. I think his main concern is getting the correct shade of green. I tried looking at my dark euro green but that just doesn't look right to me.

The top colours should be RLM 70/71. I am not sure if the white replaces one of those or goes over both. What brand of paints is he  using.

I was eyeing that kit in my LHS the other day. Nice to hear its a good kit.

Edit: I just found a review which shows the white going over both greens, which is normal. So he will need both 70 and 71.

Actually, the top two colours should be RLM 72/73, the maritime colours.

True and the one that got painted white was a quick in the water deal with sloppy white wash, before it went off to relieve the weather station survivors.

It is a really nice kit, with a good interior.

The gun positions out on the wings aren't right for the operational birds, but they look cool.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Yes, sorry, I stand corrected. I am so used to 70/71, I should have checked first.

Thanks Chris.
