Revell 1:32 Gustav

Here's my finished Revell Gustav in 1:32

It was a very fun build, went together well. I upgraded it with Eduard bronze landing gear and fabric seatbelts, as well as aftermarket decals to depict Gerd Barkhorn's W.Nr. 15909 of 43/44.

Due to my lack of airbrush, I used Tamiya rattlecans (AS-3,4 and5) and did the mottle with a sponge and matching Vallejo colors. Since Erla-built Gustavs had the distinct zigzag camo, I used rolls of blu-tack which I indented/depressed with the butt of a brush. Turned out decently.

For the 109 buffs: The plane might look a bit like a G-5, but apparently since those were all built by Erla, their G-6s looked like G-5s due to manufactoring streamlining. Hence the insert gun-throughs for example.

Anyway, hope you like it.

Added a Kübelwagen (1:35 by Tamiya) to the display, to add some character. I know the grey finish of the Kübel is a bit uncorrect for 43/44 (as it should have ben dark yellow with olive and brown camo) but apparently the Luftwaffe sometimes had their own color for vehicles. Or it might be an early model Kübel. It fits the scene, so I went with it... Hope you like it.

Wow. Rattlecans? I'm impressed. The sponge technique seems to have worked really well too. I'll have to remember that when I end up doing a similar scheme.
