Wanting to build the aircraft flown by the SWEDE, and after being out of the game for a bit, I'm in need of direction. Where may I start with research? I believe I've seen a decal sheet for a wild cat he flew but can't confirm. Any, tid bits, and or advice would just plain ROCK! Thanks guys TIM.

Surely the Dauntless is the one to do, if you will only do one of his airplanes.  Whether or not he actually shot down any of the Zeros in his epic dogfight, surviving 25 minutes of combat against multiple Zeros is simply amazing.  Apparently he made no claim to have done so, that was done by higher ups.

I do believe that his gunner would be a witness for the claims when debriefed.  Swede probably wrote the Zero claims off and not taking  credit for them as the thing to do to save his gunner, his aircraft, and his ship.  For more info on the planes (Bureau of Naval Aviation numbers) that he flew, contact the Museum of Naval Aviation, as they should have that info in the archives.

My goal is Both!  Big! Slow but deadly fan!  Wild Cats, kind of like the marines on the canal with the '03 springfields. Only a plane a mother could love!  They held the LINE!

Try this link for your Swede Vejtasa 1/48 F4F Decal set:

http://www.printscale.org/product_213.html

They also have the set in 1/72, not sure which scale you were looking for.

Here are 1/32 scale SBD decals (You'll need to scroll towards the bottom to find the Swede decals):

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the response. Slow But Deadly is a definent . I guess I'm a little smitten with a pilot that could fly a dauntless inside a phone booth!
