Anyone building 1/350 aircraft NOT for use on ship models??

I decided awhile back that my Trumpeter Hornet would carry her normal air group, so I dispensed with the B-25s. Just for giggles, I decided to start a couple of them, with the hopes of going into a small diorama...

Not sure how much detail you can put into a 1/350 B-25 or single engine aircraft, but in the span of 30 minutes, I have 2 B-25s ready for paint!!

I think I've found my new favorite scale!! Smile [:)]

you could do a whole dio of an england airfield or even if u had lancs, b24s, or b17s, you could do a 1000-bomber raid over germany or attack an oil refinery - the possiblities are endless!

now thats got me thinking . . . .

You could make all of those strafer craft, dragon, wolf, eagle, well, at least the early ones.
Hey Jeff, got a couple you want to get rid of? Big Smile [:D]

I kinda think we are going over the edge. I can't see enough with my 1:48 scale WWII planes. I am struggling right now with the planes for my Trumpeter Hornet build, it is brutal. More power to you all!

Ok, time to fess up...

I 've started a 1/350 airfield diorama, modeling a maintenance depot on Esprito Santo circa 1944.

There's a couple of B-25s, one PBJ-1, one PBY-5A, and a row of Corsairs on the opposite side of the taxiway. There's lots of palm trees, some scratchbuilt vehicles, and even a Japanese aircraft graveyard in the corner. That consists of a wrecked Betty and a heavily dmamged Nell. I may toss a floatplane (Paul or Alf) into the mess as well.

So far, on a 8x8 base, there's 11 aircraft and 6 vehicles, one platform signal tower, some Quonset huts, a couple of tents, and about 25 palm trees.

The Corsairs have full cockpit interiors, and 2 of the B-25s will have engine cowls removed to show the engines being serviced.

Not quite sure what I'm going to do with the rest of the stuff, as I'm still in the construction phase and deciding what goes where.

I'll take some pics and add them to my site once I start finalizing things.

The Trumpeter aircraft are great for this small dio concept...at $10 for a box of 10 aircraft, you can really go nuts.

My next idea, I want to model a 1/350 air museum, using Trumpeter, Tamiya Modern, and any other stuff I can find in 1/350 scale.

Jeff,
Sometimes I think you have too much time on your hands. . .

Seriously, that's a great idea - I look forward to seeing your island diorama.

Time ?? I have no time...I typically start building about 10pm, go until 1 or 2am, then sleep for a few hours.
