Probably easiest to go to that section of my website:  alfredsmind.ca/acscratchpg.html

They are all 1/48, built between 20 - 30 yrs ago.  Some of these subjects have been kitted by major or minor manufacturers since then.

Ditto everyone else - don't go trashing that scratch build, it looks terrific.

Definitely post some more pics of your other scratch builds too!

Thanks everyone, I'm sure I'll keep it regardless, I'm kind of emotionally attached to my old scratchbuilds.  I used to do a lot of them but only a handful have survived.  Nowadays I don't buy an aircraft kit unless there's not much that needs to be done!  LOL!

Welcome to the forum, and what a great introduction. That's a sweet looking build and even more so being scratch built.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Those guns are super wicked!!! Very cool scratchbuild and cool idea to compare to a current release!

Wowsers, you did a wonderful job! I hope you do not trash that kit as even though the wings are doing that it's still a wonderful looking model, even more impressive knowing it's scratch built!

Comparing the new Trumpeter Westland Whirlwind w my 20 yr old scratchbuild

Hi, this is my first post here.

I scratched a 1/48 Westland Whirlwind over 20 years ago. I just picked up the new Trumpeter kit and they made an interesting comparison. I'm assuming that Trumpeter did a better job with shape accuracy. The fuselages, wings and tail surfaces are virtually identical in shape and size, but my nacelles are too bulky by comparison and my wings a bit too thick. But the Trumpeter kit seem to be missing some details. My old model also has a removable nose showing the 20mm cannons within. Unfortunately the wings are de-laminating with age, not really repairable, I'm not sure if it will go into the scrap bin at this point.

All done:
