Another FW190 build
Posted by AdeB on Sunday, July 27, 2014 1:48 PM

My last 2 weeks of holiday plus a couple of evenings and I finally cracked this Eduard FW 190. I picked it up really cheap on EBay for £8.00 and spend many frustrating hours trying to patch it together.

I knew this was a bugger of a build and think I made a reasonable fist of it. The only addition were some after market gun barrels and pitot tube.

Big question is what to build in August...?

I've read about the challenge this kit presents.  It looks like you were able to tame it just fine.  Nice work; thanks for sharing with us.

Beautifully executed Eduard 190 AdeB.  That is one excellent camo and weathering job you have done on it. Superb detailing also. What paints and weathering techniques did you use to achieve those fine results?

It's a technique I have stolen from various sources. Basic paint job followed by a very thinned wash of black/burnt umber oils. Allowed to part dry then excess wiped off followed by a pin wash of AK washes. Finally a brush with MIG airfield dust.

Really nice work on this one. I like the effect you have got. Nice job.

As for August, how about a Stuka Whistling

Just a super job you made of it, the finish and engine bay look excellent. Thanks for the photo's.

For August, how about a nice 109 or P-51? I'd second the Stuka as well. Great work.

Nice Wurger. I like that scheme. The pigments look quite convincing.

AdeB,

Nice work on that 190!  The weathering looks quite convincing.  Considering what I've read about Eduard 190s on this forum I'm not surprised you had difficulties.  Makes finishing it all the sweeter!
