1:72 X-15 Kit Question
Posted by lzdaily@comcast.net on Monday, July 28, 2014 6:44 PM
Hello, all. Has anyone ever made a 1:72 scale X-15? Just a plain X-15, not the X-15 A-2. I've built a pair of the Monogram X-15 A-2's (one white, one black) and I'd like a same scale X-15 to display with them to show the difference in size. I built an X-15 years ago that I thought was a 1:72 kit, but looking around the Web in the last few days I'm pretty sure it was the old Revell 1:64 kit. Thanks, Larry

I believe Chris Crowfoot(?) had an article in FSM converting the Monogram kit to the shorter version, maybe 8-10 years ago?

Sounds like something Anigrand would have made, check their catalog or retired items.

Thanks for the info, guys. I should probably know this, but is there a way to search FSM electronically?

if you look down three modules from the menu tabs...on the right hand side of the screen...right below where it says your screen name and has the edit profile stuff you can search the forums by typing in to the search FSM community spot. If you want to search the website as a whole its right below the menu tabs in the "Search finescale.com" spot. Hope this helps

Josiah, thanks for replying. What I was asking about, though, was searching FSM the magazine. I'd like to get a copy of the kitbashing article  PaulBoyer mentioned.

Sorry about that....check this out:

www.finescale.com/.../January%201999.aspx

Under features it says,

"Modeling the original X-15 Conversion

By Christopher Crofoot

Backdating Monogram's 1/72 scale X-15A-2."

Same author Paul was talking about, just a wee bit farther back. How to get the article I cannot help you, but at least you now know what issue it is in. Best of luck.

Josiah, thanks for the info and the link. Very useful. I found a copy of that issue on eBay and it's on its way here. Appreciate it.
