Trey, so glad to see a different looking SBD!  Well, Texan...still.  This is a great looking NMF!  Subtle, well spaced, and not overdone.  =D  All the markings came out looking gorgeous. I'm always trimming any decals down as tight as possible cause I'm afraid of any of it showing up on that NMF surface.  Did you paint the checkered cowl or is it a part of the decal set?  In some photos it looks like a decal (in terms of computer printer accuracy), but in others it almost makes me think it was painted.

Anyhow, 5 Stars Trey!  I love it. =]

...and Ray...glad to see you back!  I was about to grab a stick and poke you with it.  See if you moved at all.  =D

Very cool Trey!  That's a slick Texan man.  Those checkers look killer too, as does the NMF.  You did real good on this bird!!  Yes

Oh wow...  I actually got to watch one of these babies built.  FULL SCALE!  I was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol back in the mid to late 80's in Mesquite TX, and there were two docs that had WWII birds.  One had an Avenger, and Dr. Swanson had an AT-6.  Then in about 86 or 87 he started on a second.  His hanger was down at the opposite end of the squadron's, so we watched as he and his friends spent the next year plus putting it together.  I can remember one of the first times he fired up that big radial.  It was dusk on a cool evening.  We all sat in awe, looking west into a setting sun, admiring the pale blue flames flowing from the exhausts...  Hmmmm....  Them were the days.............  Thanks for sharing this build, and it's a beaut, by the way.... Raymond

Great work! Were the cowling checkers/wing stripes decals or painted on? Those are particularly well done.

I am curious about that too. Agreed, they look great however you did it. Can't imagine a decal wrapping around that cowling, also can't imagine masking/painting. :)

Looks great!  Just finishing up a 1:48 kit of another brand.  Hope it comes out as nice.  Is the main finish Alclad?  Whatever it is, I sure like it and hope mine ends up looking as nice.
