Revell/Monogram has recently reissued its 1/72 B-52 with X-15. It was originally issued back in the '90s (I believe) in the "Young Astronauts" series, and for a time was sought after by collectors. The reissue made it much more available (and less expensive). Realistically, you'll be spending a lot of time creating your own carrying pylon and other mods to the bomber, and you can save yourself a lot of time (and trouble) if you find the B-52/X-15 issue.

See if you can get hold of the March 2010 issue of FSM. There is a feature article in this issue about modifying the Monogram B52D kit to make the X-15 launch ship.

Hey Exocet,

Great idea for the kit!  Don't have any references for that, but I might still have the instructions for the old Revell/Mono B-52 kit that came with the X-15.  If that would be of any help, I can scan the page with the hard point on it and shoot it to you.  Let me know and I'll check when I get home tonight for the instructions.  Might be able to find them on line too.

B52 & X15

I have a 1/72 B52. I was going to build it as a Vietnam War era bird but I have decided to put the Heller 1/72 X15 under its wing. Does anybody have an idea of the design or source of the hard point used to mate the X15 to the wing?
