Hello Gary, mate I bought a heap of different bases (this one is marsden matting) in 1/72 and 1/48 scale from flyingmule.com Although there are probably plenty of places that have them.

Ditto! The "tiffy" was quite a large a/c wasn't it? Were "spits" getting 5 blade props before the war's end? Bob

Beautifully done, Grant, so well finished. Your treatment of the panel lines looks great, and your camo masking gives me some good insight, (my weak point.) Thanks so much for the post.

Academy 70th Anniversary Normandy Invasion kit - 1/72 Spitfire Mk.XIVc & Typhoon Mk.Ib

Hello guys, finished off these 2 today. I decided to not put rockets on the Typhoon and kept chipping to a minimum on this build. So the history of these 2 aircraft-

Spitfire Mk.XIVc, No. 91 Squadron, Royal Air Force. West Malling. The serial number for this aircraft - RB174 DL-T was painted over the day before the invasion.

Typhoon Mk.Ib MN529 / BR-N, No. 184 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Westhampnett, June 1944. The aircraft code "N" is overpainted on the tail flash, as the original is hidden by the invasion stripes.

Academy has released a real gem of a kit here and with the inclusion of Cartograf decals for around $25 AUD online, it is a bargain.

I used Tamiya, Vallejo, Italeri acrylics, a dark dirt wash and Klear for gloss coats and vallejo polyurethane matte for final clear coat.
Thanks for looking.
