Thanks for having a look. I found out last night that the a/c was a leaflet bomber. I think they were being painted OD with gloss black undersides which would be interesting. The lack of information is a bit frustrating.

Interesting one. I checked a few site si have saved, including one that supposedly has the serial of every B-17, but found nothing. I did come up with a little info on some other sites. It crashed near Daventry on 15th Dec 44. The pilot was Finis E Harries. The group code was a G in a triangle, but I guess you know that.

The 305th site isn't much help. But i'll see what else I can find. Not knowing the nose art is a bit of a bummer.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Hello everyone, I've volunteered to build a model of a B-17G (tail no. 43-38973) that crashed in Northamptonshire, England. The aircraft was part of the 422nd Bomb Squadron that was based in Chelveston, Northamptonshire. I've spent the last couple of weeks doing some research and so far the only thing I've found out is that the squadron letters are JJ. I'm hoping that some kind soul out there will be able to point me in a good direction. A picture would be even better!! Any information will be very welcome. As for the model, I'm going to use Revell's 1/72 B-17G. I've thought about getting some of the Eduard photoetch, but still trying to make up my mind about that. Thanks in advance.
