Space is running out1
I'm in the same predicament Joe, I'm doing the office now on a Mngrm 1/48 PBY
I'm finally retired. Now time I got, money I don't.
Oh, you lucky devil. Must say I'm jealous. I'm going to have to be creative for display space when I complete my 1/48 PBY Catalina.
I have the room to display it with my other models in my hobby room!
Fantastic finish philo. That flying boat is just awesome. So, where you going to display that big sucker? Thanks again for sharing your WIP with us. It was a real pleasure to watch you put that together.
Just about done.Came out well.
Thanks guys!

I've looked at this kit on eBay a few times, and after reading some reviews decided that I just don't have what it takes to do it justice. Obviously, you do - very impressive!

Yes it is coming out much better than I expected!
That is just simply awesome!! I am bowing in your general direction in homage to your excellent talents. You certainly have the touch for taking lemons and making lemonade. I'm really happy you have taken the time to share this build with us. It is encouraging to see that if one puts forth the effort that older kits, that may lack the standards of quality and detail of current molds, can be turned into really stunning builds.
I used a high E guitar string to rig the wing floats.Tacked them in place with CA then put a drop of expoxy at each attachment point.
Thanks! It sure does capture the graceful lines of this aircraft.
Man, you're surely doing justice o this fine ol kit. great job.
Mounted up the wing floats.
Installed additional bracing on the horizontal stabilizers.
Thanks! it is a nice kit.
Looks much better with the wing on it. Boy, That's a rather sizable kit for being 1.72. Very nice work on the rigging. Your Mavis is turning out awesome. Mainly due to all the excellent skill you have.
I used 2 lb test fishing line for the rigging. In scale but hard to work with!
Put the main wing braces on .The inboard struts supplied in the kit were too short,so I had to make new ones.
Very cool!
Building up really nice !
Makes me think about the old 1960s era AIRFIX PBY Catalina kit I built long ago, but much, much , much bigger.
