ikar01, that's quite a photo album you got there.
OMG! You don't have to do that!!
I goofed again.....meant to put this Phantom stuff on my Phantom thread.
Chasing the ultimate build.
Brave man - nice so far!
Is that a snake wearing a top hat and a bow tie!!?
It's an IRST (infrared search and tracking) In the USMC/USN it was exclusive to the F-4B. It was deleted from the later F-4J/N/S Phantom II fighters.
IR sensor pod
that thing hanging off the underside of the nose isn't a gun?
There's no gun there.
I thought Marines didn't get the Phantom with the gun?
Still looking for some feedback on hanging RBF tags, and building an IRP...
ARGH! Sorry Sarge my pics mustn't came through. I am having a harddrive issue with my computer and my "smartphone" has out smarted me...
cute...but what's it all mean? : )
Here's a little story I found in a copy of the magazine "The Adventures of Super SLUFF"

I rescued the magazine form the back of a trash truck heading off base at Korat.
Yeah, I agree, they're on the expensive side. With some careful masking and sanding, a sheet should last a few projects. I bought two sheets a couple of years ago and I still have about 3/4s of a sheet left. I think they're worth the money.
Cheers!

-It's Omar, but they call me "O".
OOrtiz, I got my panel lines in the mail today. Pricey is right! Gonna give it a go tho.
Still hoping to get some measurements for the IRP from someone who may have this kit in their inventory. Gotta try to make one.
Raising panel lines......IRP tip came yesterday....
Holycrap, "O". That's great! Thanks for the tip. All my kits are older ones with raised details, so I think I'll be buying myself some rivets, panel lines & access panels
Hey Sarge,
I've been following your builds and I like what I'm seeing. Keep up the good work!
If I may, I'd like to offer some assistance in replacing lost raised panel lines. My modeling budget is super tight, so most of my kits are not the expensive "super-kits" with engraved detail. I'm usually building older kits that still have raised detail. Many of those kits have fit issues, so my builds require a lot of filing and sanding. As a result, I lose a lot of raised surface detail in the process.
Instead of using complicated or messy processes for replacing lost raised detail, I invested in some of Archer's resin transfers. I love their raised rivets and fasteners, but I use their raised panel lines the most. The set is a little pricey, but one set will last your several projects. Also, the ease of use is worth the price. The transfers go on like water-slide decals. Once they're covered with paint, you can't tell that they're not part of the original molding. This video on YouTube provides a great demonstration of their application and how they "disappear" under paint.
Maybe Archer's stuff is worth a look for ya. I know I've added their stuff to my arsenal and my builds are better for it.
(Not affiliated with Archer, just a super satisfied user.)
Roger that. Appreciate your help. Got my A-7 Corsair in Action book today......and the F-8 Crusader book yesterday.....no color pictures!!!
cbaltrin Alternatively, If you really have to have one, check out this ebay item. it's the most difficult piece to scratch build -- the tip). the rest is pretty much just a tube... www.ebay.com/.../371220361842

I bought the tip.......hopefully I can get some info to try to build a tube for it.
Heard about it right here.....so this is my 1st attempt at raising a panel line....
Maybe F105nutt will break into his stash and shoot me some measurements.
