Just thought I'd share this with ya'll...

During my daily grunging about on Airliners.net I came across this really superb photo taken by Yevgeny Pashnin from a Lufthansa 747 back in January. This is way-cool stuff!

Wow... that's awesome! I've unfortunately never seen the Lights, being down here in Chicago.... Wish I could though. Thanks for the pic!!

Nice photo!
Up here in Alaska we get the Northern Lights all the time, especially in the winter. Even with that much exposure to them we still marvel at the lights dancing across the sky. You'll notice in the photo that they're mostly greenish yellow. Up here in the far Northern latitudes we get green, yellow, blue, red, orange and even purple lights. Usually the farther North you go, the more variance in color and the more vivid the lights. Sometimes the entire sky is shifting around changing shapes.
It's really an awesome sight, ESPECIALLY ON NVG's!!!!!!!!!!!

that is a fantastic shot. havent seen the lights in many years. still remember the first time i saw it. hope my kids get the same chance.

around here, we see the northern lights all the time. but only about a dozen times a year do we see really spectacular ones.
