just started on this little kit last night.

got the cockpit painted,  made up some seat belts from frog tape and poked holes in the center with a pin. buckles made from thin wire. also added wood on the floor as i seen that in some pictures

Look good!  Didn't F-51s have an all black interior?    I'm not sure if they all were or not, so if anyone has more info, please correct me =D

That is beautiful. It is hard to believe that is 1:72.  Sure shows how the state of the art in kit mfg has advanced since my first plastic models in the 50s.  For a taste of that, try one of the Lindberg racing planes, still the same kits as the fifties.  Only thing in the cockpit was a rudimentary seat and a pilot figure!

I know the top surfaces and canopy frame is all black at least

assembly finished, ready for painting next!

you can see i drilled out to mount the 6 rockets and I'll add the 2 bombs as well
hardly any filler is need on this kit

I got the base colors painted on tonight. I used my favorite aluminum color which is from krylon.  the yellow and black is craft paint.
It is also clear coated and ready for the decals next!
