Help needed on canopy
Posted by navy07 on Saturday, April 25, 2015 1:19 PM
Help! I am building Revell's F-22 Raptor, in 1/72 scale. The canopy has got some film on it and makes the canopy look cloudy. I've tried cleaning it with paint thinner and brush cleaner, but to no avail. The canopy is slightly tinted in a yellow tint, and I soaked it in future floor polish. How did I mess up and how can I can clean it up. Thank you. Lenny

The Future can be removed with Windex (ammonia version) and a little scrub.

Try polishing it with toothpaste.

I second Antoni,s comment but use The non gel toothpaste.

Isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol is a good cleaner for canopies. It will not polish it, but it does clean a lot of  crud off without any damage.

If it's not too badly marked, I usually do what Antoni and Jay Jay have suggested, using the grittier white toothpaste and rub it all over with a cotton bud/Q-Tip, usually in circular motions, then rub/polish it off with clean cotton buds/Q-Tips, again, in circular motions. If that doesn't do it, then I sand the canopy with 4,000 / 6,000 and 12,000 grit paper, finishing with the toothpaste.

Cheers,

Martin : )
