Mono AC47
Posted by goldhammer on Friday, May 15, 2015 9:15 AM
Last night found a Monogram AC47 marked with a 2008 date on the box. From my LHS that was part of a collection they got. Going to do her as Spooky rather than Casper, but noticed the decals give Casper's t/n on the small placard under the drivers window rather than Spooky's. Any other issues for ths one that anyone can think of? I think she was gone from Udorn by the time I got there, at least I don't remember ever seeing her. Oh yeah, and they give the wrong country for Udorn.....LOL, you would think since made in China, they could get that right, since it is in the neighborhood.......

I saw one AC-47 in action the whole time I was in SEA. It was one of the most impressive sights I saw over there. If I remember right Udorn is in Thailand. I saw a whole lot of stuff "made in China" while I was over there. As for the model, I think I saw decals for the AC-47 you want to model, but I cannot remember where or when. If I remember I'll post the info (give you a SITREP).

Yep, Udorn is in north-central Thailand.  The kit has the decals for one attached to the 432nd, just some of them don't have the correct numbers on them.  By putting the dark green of the SEA camo under the drivers window, it shouldn't be too noticeable.

Puff was an amazing piece of equipment put together with off the shelf components and was pure beauty in motin for the gunts on the ground.  Must have been a vision of someone between E4 and E 7.

Superscale International makes a 1/48 scale set for a Udorn-based Spooky (tail number 443010) from 1970.  Unfortunately, no "data block" is provided.  The stock number is 48-251 if that helps.
