If nothing else, you can do inkjet decals. Unfortunately, light colored decals, such as yellow, that go over a dark background color are much harder to make than dark numbers for a light colored bacground. But not impossible.
The trick is to use white decal paper. Now, the trick is to set the background color to the color of the paint the decal will go over. Then you do not need to cut each number out perfectly. However, color matching with a personal computer and inkjet printer is not the easiest thing in the world.
I will be building that kit as an American Airlines route survey plane, with AA decals over the old AA dark blue paint scheme. First, I have to come up with the right paint mix, then, much harder, get that color loaded into my graphics program. This is necessary because the AA logos contain white, and I will have to use white decal paper.
