How to find reviews of models
Posted by BlackTulip109 on Sunday, June 21, 2015 2:15 PM

Just wanted to know are their reference sites where one can find out about certain model a/c kits.

I know both Airfix and Revell of Germany have re-tooled and have new-tooled kits which are awesome.

BUT how do you avoid the "old" mold repackaged ones?

I had this happen with a 1/72 JU-88.

When I finally bought the "new" tooled Revell German one it was a "Quantum" leap of difference.!

I really like these new tooled kits they go together fast and look great and you can tell they are very well engineered.

Time is really tight with me these days and I really don't want to be filling and sanding seams like I once did.

Thanks folks

I use scalemates quite a bit. It not only gives you reviews of kits, assuming there are some, it also lists the history of the kit.

I just go to Google and type in " Accurate Miniatures Vindicator Review" (for example).    That leads me to all the main sites with A+ info

I have not bothered registering, but I think you have to to comment. Its now my go to site before I buy any kit. Does do any harm to check.

Thanks BISH !!

I agree one has to be careful.

As I mentioned before I am very much impressed with new tooling of a lot of the kits coming out.

I am happy to see Airfix making some really nice kits.

Revell of Germany is wow'ing us with nice 1/32nd kits.

Rumors are they are seriously looking at doing a 1/32 ME-410 that would be awesome!!

It's getting hard to keep up!!

I recently adjusted my scale preferences because my 11 year old just couldn't handle 1/32 but likes 1/48 for fighter planes and 1/72nd for the twin and 4 engined a/c  and I suddenly like them too!!

Happy modeling

I got the new Revell Ju 88 a while back. I compared it with the much more pricey hase kit and the revell is just as good. And I like the way they produce it. They leave plenty of options for other versions without leaving you with lots of un used pars and so a higher price.

I have some of there 32nd kits as well, and they do indeed look nice. I am hoping they follow the other guys with a 335 and 229, but an Me 410 would certainly be welcome.
