Shipwreck, your best bet is to get the Tamiya F4F-4.  It is THE BEST Wildcat in 1:48.  There's several different resin kits that allows you to fold the wings back.  I would stick to that.

No sir, but it looks like there are a couple of conversion sets.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Tamiya is a good quality kit but no folding wings. Hobby boss doesn't have folding wings either. Several resin sets are available though. The Monogram kit has folding wings but they aren't particularly accurate.

I am looking for a 1/48 scale F4F-4 wildcat to represent a VF-8 fighter that was on the USS Hornet during the Doolittle raid. Dose anyone know of any kits that have folding wings? Thank you for any help you have to offer on this question.
