Researching the FS colors for the Dassault USCG HU-25A Guardian/Does a decal sheet exist?
Posted by F-100 John on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 7:02 PM

After many years in my kit stash, I'm planning on building the HU-25A from the Mach 2 Falcon 20/200 kit. Looking for the FS colors in particular the red, white & the color of the leading leading edges.

Does a 1/72 decal sheet exist for this USCG aircraft?

Thank you,

Thank you,

I've heard a couple different ideas on the orange/red color.  Everything from international orange to chevy engine red (both modelmasters), or even possibly a mix of the two.  The problem is that even looking at photos online the color seems to change based on the lighting.  The leading edges look like a gunship or euro gray (also modelmasters) to my eye.

Looking around I found Hawkeye in Australia does some USCG aircraft, but not the HU-25.  You might be able to get some 1/72 and use them anyway though.  Additionally, the instructions might have some color callouts you can use as the oranges and whites, I believe, are the same across the Coast Guard.  Also, check the Helos forum for USCG builds and you might find something on the colors.

It's not listed on the Hawkeye Models website, but a set (CGDS-06) for the HU-25 was mentioned on their Facebook page.

(Don't know if the link will work for you)
