Yellow Paint down over a light pre shading to bring out the panel lines photo doesnt do justice to preshading the blackon the tailwas masked prior to yellow going on .I will give a coat of klear then a light colour of oil for the panel wash as these aircraft were kept clean Decals and oil pin wash done

Very nice!  I have a fond distaste for yellow; you've done an excellent job with it.

She's really pretty!  This plane always reminds me of the movie Hot Shots.

Jess - That's among the very best panel pre-shading jobs I've seen, such a clean build this is going to be. Thanks for the photo's and post.

Georgeous paint job !!!!  Jezz.     Did you first paint it flat white, before the yellow ?  I have a Kingfisher to do with yellow wings is why I asked.  If I may ask, what brand of yellow did you use ?  I wasn't real happy with my Model Master yellow.

Looks awesome!

I am wondering about the type/brand of yellow paint as well. How many coats of yellow did it take and which type and model of airbrush did you use. I am building a plane for the first time, my GF bought it for me so I kinda have to, and am having a devil of a time getting the look I want with Vallejo acrylics. I have a high end Iwata air brush. Thanks

Rob

Jayjaye prime the parts u are painting yellow with white or mix some yellow with white as a base then i preshade the panel lines first you can use a red brown or grey not to heavy then i used for this kit humbrol enamel lemon yellow( i dont normally use enamels ) with it thinned out really thin.i then slowly build up the color starting by airbrushing with a dual action revell airbrush paint only the centre of the panels blending it softly to the edge of the  preshaded area try not to spray over too heavy or quick the slower the build up the better patience if key here  repeat the prosses as until u are happy with the finish

Then once fonishe i spray jhonsons klear to seal ready for oil wash in panel lines then wipe clean wuth soft cloth wipe in the direction off the airflow leaving

Also i just ordered the revell 1/48 kingfisher and the B-25

Well almost finished just the canopy to attach and a final coat of klear just to seal it all in and give it a bit more of a gloss finish then its done. Its not been my best build for a while but i am happy with this one and was fun to build

Beautiful build!  Honestly, never found interest in the Gnat, but your build got me looking out for the finished product.  And it delivered!

Jezz,

Ty so much for the detailed painting tips.  Now I think I can finish my OS2U with some modicum of confidence since you steered me in the right direction.
