I was finally able to get a very old Revell model on Ebay for $39. These usually sell for a lot more and the seller just happened to live a couple of miles down the road from me so I saved another $11 on the shipping by picking it up. This was state of the art for its time and remember seeing it at Orange Blossom Hobbies in Miami in the 1970's for around $20 or so but never got around to getting one.
The reviews I read were all very positive and I was not disappointed once I inspected the model. The recessed details are very well done. It has a full engine and the pit really doesn't look half bad as is. It will make a stunning build with some scratch work and pe to dress up the pit. Eduard makes a beautiful pit set for the 1/32 Hasegawa Tony that can easily be adapted to the Revell. The decals are there but who knows if they are still good. There are several AM sets available so no problem there.
