That kit turned out real nice. Engine may have a slight vibration now, you fly first, Ok?

Thanks for sharing.

Well done again Owl. Nice job wrestling this one into submission, and also on the faded paint Yes  Looking forward to your Hornet build!

Little mig is finished!!

I was getting ready for final pics when my actuall bird got spooked by something (?!) And flew around the room in a tizzy. He crash landed on the mig, and knocked it to the ground. I was not able to find the broken prop blade... Boo Hoo

Great work. I appreciate the info on the fading. I have a Mig-3 in the stash and the fading is crucial. Your work is really nice. Looking forward to the completion.

Pawel

Looking good! Do I see it right you faded the control surfaces to represent fabric covering them?

Good luck with your builds and have a nice day

Paweł

yeah, I tried to show fading on the different surfaces. The metal areas had the least fading, the wood areas of the wings were lighter, and the fabric control surfaces were faded the most.

You can see the difference midway out on the wings.

I used this pic as reference

Now ain't that a damn shame! How long do you reckon you have to wait before you can airbrush? I once had a shop where the temps were around 32 degrees centigrade - that's about 90 Fahrenheit - and the airbrushing went OK, but I have to lower the air pressure a little and mix in some more solvent (thin the paint more) to allow for more evaporation. I'm sure you can do some pretty things with the airbrush - good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

the weather has been super nice recently, and fall is normally very mild. Im hoping to get a lot of airbrushing in, even if I have to slap a bunch of kits together for canvases! :P

Hello!

Ain't that a nice little commie you've got there! Once it's nice and smooth, I'm sure you'll be all right painting - you've got an airbush yet?

Good luck with your build and have a nice day

Paweł

I do have an airbrush--a little single-action Paasche H. Ill be using this MiG and a fw189 as practice for my crazy hornet build. Since im in the garage, I cant really break the airbrush out except in sping and fall when its of mild temperature. Summer is too hot and humid, and winter too darn cold! Dead

I tell ya, I am NOT a fan of this plastic.

not much progress to report, just putty sand, putty, sand... and WHY did they make a seam line go through the gear wells?!  Bang Head

Lets open it up, and see what we've got!

Not much...

Resin doesnt look too bad, so lets start with that, eh?

with a wash...dirty dirty dirty

Things started to get ugly when I glued the fuse together: the plastic is hard and kind of brittle, and doesnt fit very well. Moving on to the wings?

uh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear....

now, I built the zvezda kit way back when and I dont remember it being this crappy...but maybe Ive just become spoiled?! Zip it!

I snatched up this little mig at the estate-sale/giveaway. Apparently its the same mold as the italeri/zvezda kit, but with added resin goodies.

no decals were included in teh baggie, but Ive got plenty of spare ruskie markings. The problem is picking out which scheme to go with!!

after much heming and hawing, I decided on this scheme:

Za Partii Bolshevikov, repainted camouflage

I found this cutaway pic. Its pretty neat
