My 11 year old son has been building models almost daily since he returned home last week from summer camp.
I have a "stash" of kits on storage shelves and he has been cranking them out. Yesterday he made a personal record of 5. He builds them and when I get home from work or on the weekends I paint them as I want him to learn how to use an airbrush. He does a pretty good job. He just has to become more confident in the use of the Tamiya glues which are outstanding. Yesterday he did very well with very little overuse of the glue.
Any way he has been building the 1/72nd scale Supermodel and Italeri CR-42's I have. Like most modelers I had asperations of building different camo patterened versions. Well at least he's building them and we willpaint later.
Anyway, on 2 of the kits the propeller blades broke off. I e-mailed Italeri to offer to buy a few but they acknowledged receipt of the e-mail but no response after a week. Is there a aftermarket place that sells propellers??
I also wish there were a a.m. company offering metal or stronger plastic replacements.
This weekend we plan to put up more shelving in our work space as we have no-kidding over 23 works in progress. Today he wants to build some of the 1/72nd armour kits that should keep him busy and slow him down some!!
Thanks everyone.
When I figure out how to post a picture I'll put up a photo to show what we have going. My wife gave up on using that back room in the basement. l.o.l.!!!
Take a look at this site BT.

Lots of good info on some pretty fun camouflage schemes.
At 1/72, I would just make them out of flat pieces of styrene. Kind of a good way to get him into scratchbuilding.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thanx for the idea i'll try it tonight when I get home!!!

Thanks for the help.
I really like the Stormo site. Now we have a lot of ideas for camo patterns.
We constructed some makeshift props using thin plastic stock and I slightly twisted it in very warm water. Cut, sized and did some sanding and the blades are acceptable and much stronger than the kit.
THANK you Thank You a for the ideas!!!!
