Recent 1/72 Builds
Posted by scigs30 on Saturday, August 15, 2015 9:51 PM

Here are some of my recent builds. I bought 2 boxes of the Testors Hero's of the Sky kits with 4 models.  These are basic snap together builds complete with brushes and acrylic paints. I built these out of the box using the paint and supplied paint brushes.  I did glue the planes with Testors cement and primed the planes with Testors grey primer. The acrylics look good but it took many coats to look good when compared to using enamels.  I really enjoy brush painting even though I do own a AB and compressor something relaxing about brush painting.  I also built the Airfix Spitfire out of the box and that kit also comes with paint and glue.  The paint was thick and needed to be thinned. The Airfix paint did not work as well as the Testors Acrylics. I had a partially built Revell P40 that I wanted to practice my brush painting on.  I used Testors Enamels from the little jars and had it painted in 2 days.

Hello!

Lookin' good! Looks like you have solid brush painting skills! On the spitfire those letters decal is obviously too big - it's a pity. Wouldn't you like to try some subtle shading now? All it would take would be a gentle wash and some subtle dry brushing. Good luck with your builds and have a nice day

610 Squadron (which is where DW-K comes from) used 36 inch codes, so they were larger than normal, and they get tricky when trying to put them on a kit.  It can be a squeeze.

But--back to the subject.  Nice work on all the kits, especially since you brush painted them.  They really look good!
