Thanks Aggieman. Now the pitot tube is on!

Just a short description about the plane and markings. This G-6 was flown by Hauptmann Karl Rammelt of II./JG 51 while based in Rumania in 1944. He flew 450 missions scoring 46 kills. He lived to the ripe old age of 94, passing away on May13, 2009.

Thanks BK. Yes the new ROG 1/32 G-6. It's really a G-10 you just got to delete a couple of recessed details. They also have a G-10 Erla which can easily be converted to a G-14. These 1/32 kits run about $24 or so and have great details.

Edit: Just looked at the pictures and I forgot to add the pitot tube! Funny thing I had it ready for mounting.

That is excellent work. I love the springs on the antenna wire and the actuator for the canopy.

Got the lights painted

and mounted

Made the canopy cable and spring along with the radio antenna insulators

Wheels got some MMP earth powders

tail tire was flatenned a bit

Some chipping was added and MMP black powder was applied for the exhaust stains.

More fluid streaks here and there, or as Bob Ross used to say, there and here.

Finally completed this great kit. Hope you like it. All comments welcome.

Thanks BT and Mike!

BK

I'm mainly a 1/48 guy but just love the details in the 1/32's.

Crown

Not it's not Moelder's. It's the machine belonging to Hauptmann Karl Rammelt from II./JG 51 as it appeared while based in Rumania, April 1944.

That's an amazingly well detailed Revell kit. You guys are all starting to build 1/32 kits makes me want to do the same, but alas, I've got far too many 1/48 that need my attention. Besides, I could get lost adding details to such a big kit and may never find my way back.

Looking good my man!!

What a nice build!!!

I Like what you did with the wheels especially the "pin" with the tail wheel!!

Paint and camo SUPERB!!

I would be interested in that Trumpeter 109K sounds like a great deal!!

Thanks for sharing your techniques and tips it's very appreciated!!

Have been plugging away at this so here are a few progress pictures.....

Got all the decals on and a combination of Flory and oil washes that still have to be tuned up here and there.

The next one I build will be different when it comes to the stacks. You have to either modify the stacks so they can be added after painting or do a lot of masking if done the Revell way. Masked the area and shot MM Burnt Iron Metalizer at 6 psi.

masking removed

Had some silvering under the wing crosses so no biggie there. Just used some post it notes to mask the crosses and shot some colors.

Got the tires assembled and painted. The tail gear broke off so it got pinned and now it actually swivels. I also flattened the tail wheel just a tad.

Did my home brew of oil and turp wash for the wells.

Did some streaks with oils for fluid stains. Letting things cure a bit then some Testors Flat Lacquer will be sprayed to kill the gloss. Some final assemblies and this G-6 will be done.

I'm following this in the group build, but I like seeing it here, too. I missed the cockpit photo in that forum, and it looks amazing. Especially those belts. Are they aftermarket? What did you use for them?

Great job - I'm looking forward to seeing it come along.

Greg

Thanks buddy! Hey if you are interested in this kit I then highly recommend it. It has a few minor discrepancies but with the corrections it makes a fine kit. Talking about 109s, just recently Trumpeter came out with a 1/32 K-4 with a full engine that's a beauty. I recently got it on sale for about $40.

I can send you the links with the correction info for the G6 if you want it.

Beautiful cockpit and instrument panel!  The camouflage is amazing, I'm glad you shared this build not only on the group build but here on the aircraft build.  Fantastic job.

New Tooled Revell 1/32 Bf109G-6 WIP Completed
Posted by plasticjunkie on Thursday, September 3, 2015 9:39 PM

I'm doing this 109 in the Messerschmitt Bf 109 Group Build so I thought I post some pictures here just in case you all don't follow the GB route.

got the pit together

The IP got some decals punched out with my Micro Mark mini punch set and drops of Clear parts cement for the lenses

Hollowed out the exhaust stacks

Fuselage halves and spar assembled and glued

The ammo case chutes were drilled out and cleaned up

Found some small boxes in my spares drawer and glued them in place

Now the chutes have detail and depth

Canopy was masked inside and outside

Tape removed

The painting begins

Camo and side mottling completed then several coats of Aqua Gloss were sprayed in preparation for decals and Flory Washes.
