F-51 vs P-51 cockpit?
Posted by Theuns on Sunday, September 27, 2015 4:17 AM

Was there a difference in cockpit color in Korea era F-51d's vs late war P-51d's?

I assume that since the late war mustangs were sent to Korea they woud have been "standard" NA factory ?

Thanx

I've heard and read (I don't know where, so I can't say if  it was reliable) that F-51s were black inside.

Check out the USAF Museum for photos of the last Mustang used in US service.  It shows mostly black side equipment.  Probably some of the early postwar Mustangs were not depot redone as they were being used in active and ANG squadrons, and were the first arrivals in Japan for Korea.  Later arrivals were reconditioned with the addition of uncuffed propellers.
