It seems the serial was applied ahead of the tailplane and level with it, from the images I have found.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Both are correct.  On the left side of the airframe it wold be BU-H.  On the right side of the airframe it would be H-BU.  The double letters ar ahead of the roundal, on both sides.

Stirling Bomber Markings
Posted by Bikerbob on Thursday, November 12, 2015 9:42 AM

Good Day

I am about to start the Italeria Stirling bomber kit

my ancestor died in one of these bombers; I wiah to model it with his markings

I know he flew with 214 squadron out of Chedburgh England

Plane was a Stirling Mk1

Serial #EF331

Code BU-H

In reviewing various photos of other stirlings the code appears to be applied as shown and in other instances in reverse (H-BU) Can anyone assist as to which is correct?

Thank you
