Acrylic paint markers

Well the experiment was a success. I used model master deep sea blue in the marker to paint a corsair canopy  It went on like a dream. I didn't have to thin the paint at all.  It was a lot easiler than painting with a brush.  Like a brush, it did dry with a gloss finish.  I won't lie. Cleaning the paint out of the marker was a pain, but fortunately I have an ultrasonic cleaner which helped a lot  The empty markers about $6 a pop. I don't know how stable storing the paint in the markers would be, but I might store some of the more common canopy colors.  

I haven't posted pics in awhile but here goes.  Obviously this isn't perfect but considering the size (I put a dime in for comparison I don't think it looks too bad.  Still need to see if I can clean the tips and if model master acrlics will work in it

But you were able to get straight lines? I am not sure my hand would be steady enough.

I purchased a second marker which I'm going to empty and fill with model master paint. I'm sure I'll have to play with the thinning ratio to get it to work. The black acrylic that was in the marker dried very fast and seemed to adhere well. I've also found you can buy the empty markers on Amazon for about $6 or so.. I normally mask and paint off the plane but if this works it would a boon for complicated canopies. The paint went on just like a magic marker and i did really fine lines.

Can't say I've tried that. I always mask and paint my canopies with my overall bird. Try it out and report back what you find out.
